Activated carbon is used as a catalyst support in a great variety of processes. Critical activated carbon properties for the use as a catalyst support include pore size distribution and purity.

DC supplies special acid washed, mechanical resistant cylindrical shaped types or low ash granular activated carbon. For powdered activated carbon, Carbopal types, based on wood are suitable for sensitive applications.
